Learn the American Accent from an American!

Sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many people don’t. More importantly, you need to learn from someone who is actually performing using The General American Accent as well as range of regional accents on a daily basis.

Even if your coach is American and “used to live there” can you trust you are getting the right guidance unless they performed an American character professionally, today?

Group Training Courses

In Sydney we offer private and group courses with American Dialect specialist Paige Walker. In Melbourne and Brisbane we offer a 2-day weekend workshop, which combined with our digital training provides a comprehensive training program.

The American Accent Training Course in Sydney runs one night a week for 6 weeks with a STRICTLY LIMITED CLASS SIZE. In fact we like to keep the class at 6 instead of up to 18, which Paige has experienced at other facilities in Sydney.

The course takes you through a program that begins with mastering the basic vowel sounds and an understanding of the differences between your accent and the American accent. You then begin to work on your “American Story” – (a created American history that you can use in American auditions). As you progress, the class advances to working on ‘cold reads’. Then, finally a monologue.

One of the biggest problems with learning any new skill is retaining it for any length of time after the training is complete. But here, during the course, you also are introduced to our online training system that can speed up your learning and allow you to retain and refine your skills for years to come. So next time you have a performance or audition at short notice using the American accent you will have your skills fit and ready at your fingertips.
